Follow the Rand

This map looks at the income spent from two urban development projects in Cape Town, the Shark Spotters Program and the Hout Bay Recycling Co-op. It shows how and where the employees spent their earnings, following the Rand to various neighbourhoods in Cape Town as well as the Eastern Cape (in the form of remittances).

It was done in collaboration with Brennan Camp and is based on his research towards a Masters degree in International Affairs at the New School for Public Engagement in New York.

The research was done under the guidance of Professors Laura Wainer and Bob Buckley.
