LVC Branding
The National Land Value Capture Programme in South Africa was initiated by a tripartite partnership between the Development Action Group (DAG), the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, and the National Treasury’s Cities Support Programme (CSP). It was launched in March 2020.
The programme aims to strengthen the capability of metropolitan governments to efficiently and effectively implement innovative Land Value Capture tools and strategies.
We designed a logo and developed brand guidelines for the programme.
Concept behind the logo:
The LVC logo is the distillation of a 3D view of three horizontal planes, stacked on top of each other. This represents the complex layering of urban land, literally (spaces, access, planning etc.), legally (ownership, rights, deeds etc.), socially (culture, race, class, power etc.) and historically (legacies of apartheid spatial planning etc.)
The top layer is fragmented into nine parts. This talks about the role of the LVC in dissecting, analysing, researching and repairing our cities. One of the squares is shown in a golden yellow. This represents the solutions LVC hope to find through their work to make our cities more inclusive.
